Despite a wrong turn searching for gas which led me directly to the gates of Quantico (I had to turn around and back up), I arrived safely. Right in time for a gorgeous chilly sunset beaming off the buildings of this beautiful city. I’m wiped out. I think I walked six miles yesterday. I showed the really nice guy at the front desk the things I wanted to see. He had given me a whole welcome package with an awesome street map. He pointed out the locations on the map. I asked him if it was “walkable”. He said, “Oh, no. It’s about two miles.” Just one of the many cultural differences between living in NYC and living somewhere else which is more of a car culture. Two miles? I’M WALKIN’ HERE. Granted, by the end of the day, I thought: “Yeah. That’s enough walking.” But it was great because by walking I really got a feel for the city and its beauty and its symmetry (I love how it is laid out).
