Really, it isn&#8217;t.  It&#8217;s just that I enjoy symmetrical moments.  I enjoy reference points.  I revel in connections, even if they are unconscious.  I love echoes.  It makes me feel remembered.<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s not that the still from <i>Kwik Stop<\/i> (below) has ANYthing to do with me &#8211; it doesn&#8217;t (there are cups like that in diners across America) &#8230; it&#8217;s just that there is a certain symmetry to it, a looping back, an overlap &#8211; that I find <i>intensely<\/i> satisfying.  Bittersweet maybe, but <i>intensely<\/i> satisfying.  It made me smile the first time I saw it and it makes me smile now.<\/p>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sheilaomalley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/screenshot_28-e1665536885714.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"347\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-179623\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nThere&#8217;s more to write about.  I&#8217;m working on something.  Something that has to do with memory.  Not just with memory, but with <i>being remembered<\/i>.  And not just being remembered, but being remembered <i>accurately<\/i>.  How rare it is.  To be remembered <i>accurately<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>But that can be it for now.  Those two brown coffee mugs are not all about me, but like Lee Strasberg once said, &#8220;Sometimes you look at a pair of your shoes, and suddenly you see your whole life.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not that it&#8217;s all about me.
