I happened to be near the Hoboken Historical Museum – which has its entrance in a covered-over walkway between two buildings. There are arched entranceways – and when you stand on 13th Street and look through, you can see the glitter of the Empire State Building – hovering on the other side of the Hudson. The walkway provided a good break from the wind as I waited for my cab. Shivering. There are glassed-in cases in the walkway – with pictures of Hoboken in earlier days, the brownstones, the development, etc. I took some photos of ONE of the displays, as I shivered and stamped and blew on my quickly numbing digits. Not hard to imagine why I was drawn to THAT glass case as opposed to the others.

Last night, I was waiting for a cab in Hoboken.
