Nobody really knows when he was born, but April 23 is the date you most often see.  April 23, 1564.<\/p>\n<p>Came across <a href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalgeographic.com\/news\/2004\/04\/0419_040419_shakespeare.html#main\">a very fun article <\/a>which lets you know only a couple of the phrases (and words) invented (or co-opted) by Shakespeare :<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u0095 Eaten out of house and home<br \/>\n\u0095 Pomp and circumstance<br \/>\n\u0095 Foregone conclusion<br \/>\n\u0095 Full circle<br \/>\n\u0095 The makings of<br \/>\n\u0095 Method in the madness<br \/>\n\u0095 Neither rhyme nor reason<br \/>\n\u0095 One fell swoop<br \/>\n\u0095 Seen better days<br \/>\n\u0095 It smells to heaven<br \/>\n\u0095 A sorry sight<br \/>\n\u0095 A spotless reputation<br \/>\n\u0095 Strange bedfellows<br \/>\n\u0095 The world&#8217;s (my) oyster<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thanks, Bill, for achieving such greatness.
