The city, in its nighttime glamour, was smudged across the Hudson, a charcoal smudgy drawing.  I walked down to the end of my street at around 10:30 to see what I could see of downtown Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>It was dim &#8230; barely discernible &#8230; but it was there.
