His travels through Russia as, basically, a teenager, at first &#8211; and then later as a young man &#8211; have always fascinated me.  Also: it&#8217;s awesome because he kept a journal, and wrote copious letters &#8230; so we have his first impressions.  Russia in the late18th century.
