\nJeremy Richey has long been one of my favorite film writers out there. His personal site (the main one, anyway, he has many more) is Moon in the Gutter<\/a>, and I sincerely recommend you check it out. He’s also a great supporter of other writers, often asking folks to do guest-spots for various series he presents on Moon in the Gutter. In preparation for the premiere of The Bling Ring<\/i>, he hosted a “Sofia Coppola Month” on his site, all posts written by different writers. It was our choice what we wanted to write about. I chose to write about Bill Murray in Lost in Translation<\/i><\/a>, a topic I had been wanting to write on for a long LONG time. Jeremy also hosted another great series, called 31 Performances Ripe for Re-discovery (I put so many films I hadn’t seen onto the top of my list after reading all of the other entries). My contribution to that series was another piece I had been wanting to write for a long time: a tribute to Elvis Presley’s highly comedic and awesome performance in the little-seen film Live a Little, Love a Little<\/i><\/a>. People are certainly free to state that Elvis was a bad actor, and his films were all bad. But I am also free to respond with: What the hell are you talking about??<\/i><\/p>\n

Speaking of Elvis, Jeremy Richey was kind enough to return the favor and appear on my site in a beautiful QA about Elvis’ many gifts as an actor<\/a>. You can really get a feel for who Jeremy is in that QA. He is enthusiastic, he is positive. He is one of those rare birds in the critical world: someone who prefers to spend his time writing about what he LOVES, rather than criticizing what he HATES. It makes for a marked difference in tone and outlook. It’s refreshing. <\/p>\n

So I could not be more pleased that Jeremy and his wife Kelley are launching a new quarterly publication called Art Decades. The first issue will be published in November, 2014, and he has reached out to writers to be regular contributors. Some wonderful names there, Kent Adamson, John Levy, Dave Stewart, David Arrate, Jeanie Laub, and others. I’ll be a contributor as well, and I am so happy to have been asked. The Art Decades website has launched<\/a>. Jeremy and his wife are already doing cover photo shoots and planning out the first edition. I can’t wait to see what it looks like. They both have exquisite taste. <\/p>\n
