As a single woman with no children, I have never watched an episode of the Teletubbies, and this fact pleases me to no end.  They creep me out, truth be told.<\/p>\n<p>But<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dooce.com\/archives\/daily\/05_19_2004.html\"> her essay<\/a> gave me a new perspective on those little weird creeps.  What the hell are they, anyway??<\/p>\n<p>She writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I sat with her and watched the entire episode because I am the type of mother who wants to know what They are teaching my child&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u0092t think that the Teletubbies were going to open fire on each other with machine guns, although I would definitely pay money to see that episode. I just didn\u0092t know if there was an underlying message lurking somewhere in their globular oversized bellies, and I want to know what I\u0092m up against.
