Lt. Smash Speaks

There's so much happening right now, I don't know what to focus on. The death of the Iranian twins, the shooting in Mississippi, Liberia, tomorrow's planned protests in Iran ...

But then, I came across this post from Lt. Smash, stationed over in Iraq right now, and read the whole thing. It brought me a bit down to earth, and also got me in touch with what I would call a calm and certain center. Everything may SEEM like it is shooting out in 50 directions at once, but then, clearly, loudly, a voice like his beams through.

Yes. We must see this thing through. And actually, I say "we", because I am an American, and I see our fights as a country as my fight as well, but what I really mean by "we" is "the men and women of our armed services", the people making these amazing sacrifices, missing the birth of their babies, being far away from family, spouses, friends, their own culture ... But this post from Lt. Smash straightened my shoulder-blades, I guess. We know what we are doing, and we must see this thing through.

Thank you, Lt. Smash, and thank you to everyone in the US military!

*sigh* It just makes me...sigh. I'm happy that our soldiers over there have more resolve than it seems most of the people back in the States have. "Oh, are we still doing that?" Most of the people I know around me have totally forgotten about Iraq, while bullets fly past our loved ones' heads and our soldiers are risking their lives for my neighbors to continue talking on their cell phones and using their PDA's with the illusion of safety.
