A clarifying post from Josh Chafetz.
As a Marlowe fan myself, I (unfortunately for my prestige in the blog-world) THOUGHT what Chafetz actually WROTE.
Christopher MARLOWE wrote the line about Helen of Troy's face launching 1,000 ships, NOT Homer. People go about blithely quoting the words, making assumptions that Homer wrote it, but they have no idea whom they are quoting. The line "Was this the face that Launcht a thousand ships" comes from Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus (my favorite play of his) - and not from Homer.
So there.
