Have I mentioned one of my new favorite blogs?

It is called Veiled Conceit - and the tagline reads:

A glimpse into that haven of superficial, pretentious, pseudo-aristocratic vanity: The NY Times' Wedding & Celebration Announcements

Zach (the blogger) analyzes, makes fun of, picks apart, fisks, etc., the NY Times wedding announcements - If you have ever looked through that section of the paper yourself, you will know that it is a comedy goldmine.

Just go over there, and keep scrolling. It is very very very funny (if you enjoy mercilessly making fun of people you don't know, that is.)

For example.

tell me where you find these things, so i don't have to re-title my blog "stuff i read on sheila's blog today".

This one I got through Andrew Sullivan.

Oh, there's another great blog that reads like one long story which I think you would LUH-HUH-HOVE. However, you have to promise to start at the beginning and then read every entry - don't skip to the end. There's a surprise ending.

Here it is: Look out - this is an addictive blog - An Israeli girl tells the stories of all her dates set up by a matchmaker. One after the other after the other ... it is HILARIOUS. And poignant, too.

Here is where you start, and then scroll up - the blog is called Unbroken Glass.

My favorite is "from the B-list" about the two off-Broadway actors. Hysterical.

Check out this one.

"I like how, once again, the Times tries to make a sleazy bar hook-up seem like a deeply romantic moment."

heh heh

It's really just the sex-and-the-city-Orthodox-Jew style that I find so hilarious. And then something happened last year (when her blog ends) - which, literally, made my jaw drop.

I had been reading all along, laughing out loud at her dating experiences, her observations - and then BOOM. This huge surprise. (A good surprise.)

I had to laugh at myself at how invested I got in the shenanigans of a stranger!!

it's funny.

"After about two months of heavy chillin', my shadchan phoned, saying he had just the guy for me, a ba'al teshuva, serious in learning, very shtark."

...wtf?

..."google search"...

shadchan = matchmaker.

...google search...

ba'al teshuva = one who examines one's life and behavior to improve one's character through Jewish philosophy

...google search...

...google search...

Shtark, shtarker = strong, brave

okay...

"After about two months of heavy chillin', my (matchmaker) phoned, saying he had just the guy for me, a (student of Jewish philosophy), serious in learning, very (strong)."

okay. i get it. on to the next sentence!

I told the shadchan I want to meet him at a coffee shop. He said its not be so shayach for this guy, he might be too frum for that.

oh, man...
