Beautiful. Just beautiful.

This movie-review of the second Bridget Jones goes along with a continuing theme on this blog.

Favorite sentences:

Renee Zellweger returns to the title role, fresh from stealing that Best Supporting Actress Oscar away from the Iranian chick from "House of Sand and Fog."

Also:

Zellweger's performance is now full-on caricature, as though everything she learned about the British she picked up from old episodes of "Are You Being Served?"

bwahahaha (I love that show!)

And the coup de grace:

It's another chick-flick that's demeaning and condescending to the same audience that will probably end up singing its praises. (Man, I hope not!) Bottom line: This movie is so lame, I'm surprised Garry Marshall had nothing to do with it.

Additional note: The abysmal soundtrack has been mentioned in every single review. Woah. It makes me kind of curious to see the movie ... just to see what the hell they are talking about.

Jesus, I almost sprayed my monitor with Mountain Dew when I got to that "Are You Being Served?" line. Now I'm dreaming of a scene in this movie where she answers the phone with a basso profundo "Men's Department."

I just looked up the soundtrack on Amazon. I've never heard any of those songs, with the exception of the one by The Darkness.

I think this movie will end her streak. Like Sandra Bullock after she did the second Speed film. Don't ya think? The reviews have been uniformly bad, and it seems to undo whatever she had going for her before - in this case the weight gain being so pointless, it rubs out any positive vibe from the last time.

I'm glad that Hugh Grant is getting the kudos he deserves. That guy is great. The true test of talent is whether or not you can rise above a shitty movie!!!

Anne: I believe her moment has passed ... I know a bunch of people showed up on my blog when I wrote that ranty post about her, saying they loved her ... and I believe them! I do! But the general vibe I get (and I read 5,000 Entertainnment and Industry magazines on a daily basis) is that she is done.

So is Ben Affleck.

Too many bad movies in a row, too many terrible choices, and they are both WAY over-exposed.

I've had Zellweger-fatigue for about 2 years now.

I have never found her attractive, interesting or talented. I have nothing against her personally, and hope she has a nice life, but I'd be very happy if I never, ever heard her name or saw her face again.

The feeling is mutual, I'm sure.

I loved Are You Being Served?, too.

MR. HUMPHRIES: ...and don't worry, sir; it will ride up with wear.

MR. GRANGER: You don't have to lie to ME. I work here!

Siobhan! There you are again!

GUILTY!! (hahahaha)

I am very glad to have another opinion, dear sister. We can't all be in sync at all times (like with Jewel. Ahem.)

I loved the first Bridget Jones as well. But mostly cause of the guys. :)
