Well. Sadly, I am nearly done with The Correspondence. I have reached the year 1816. 10 more years to go. It saddens me. And yet - this is a book I come back to again and again, for strength, inspiration, for fun ... also, for the mere intellectual challenge of trying to keep UP with these guys. It's deep, man. I really enjoy their company.
This morning, I read a bit of it and came across one of their exchanges (from the year 1815), which I want to post here. It's really Jefferson's reply to Adams which I found so riveting, so beautiful ... but to give the proper context, I'll be posting Adams' letter too.
