Passing on the game

I picked it up from Emily, who picked it up from others. (Uh oh, that sounds like we have the Black Death or something.)

No, it's just a game to be passed on:

1. Grab the nearest book
2. Turn to page 23
3. Find the fifth sentence
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

Here is mine. Tis from George Washington, by Willard Sterne Randall:

"Partly because of unhealthy conditions in the Tidewater, where undrained swamps produced malaria and where medicine was exceedingly primitive, few people reached old age."

Picking up disease...no, contrary to the rumors, you cannot catch syphillis from a trackback ping.

Just imagine - even a year and a half ago, that sentence would have made absolutely no sense to me. Trackback ping? What the hell is that??

I don't have a journal, and I'm at work, so here's the fifth sentence on page 23 of my nearest book:

"No committee or subcommittee shall meet while the House is in session without the consent of the House, except the Subcommittee on Rules, when meeting to consider matters other than legislation, and conference committees."

It's Rule 7.8 of the Rules of the Florida House of Representatives.

Who else thinks Dave J. should start a blog? Hands?

Posted by: Emily at April 14, 2004 01:15 PM

Don't think you're the first person to say that, Emily. I might at some point, but I'm probably just too lazy. :-p

Like the To Don't list Dave. I understand.

You're definitely a blogger-at-heart.

I, also, don't have a blog. I am also not at home, but in my MIL's home office. She is a nurse practitioner, so the nearest book to her computer happens to be "Pharmacotherapeutics for Nurse Practioner Prescribers". Here goes: "For the buccal and sublinugal methods, only a small quantity of the drug can be used, the drug can have little flavor, and a rapid onset of action must be desired." This is under the subheading, "The Enteral Route". HAHAHAHAHAHA!

"She said what's Rob doing in Peru anyway, and I said I don't know I think he's saving the children or something."
This is from "If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things" by Jon McGregor. I liked this activity, this was fun!

It was one of those Titanic struggles which Time cannot efface from the memory.

Easy for him to build up the strong, and tear the strong down.
