The Ramones (what's left of them) are having a 30th anniversary show on Sept. 12.
Apparently, the actual "anniversary" is August 16, 1974 - their first show at CBGBs.
Anyone read Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk? Yet another great book recommended to me by my friend Allison.
I read it in about 3 days straight. Fascinating.
Please Kill Me is excellent. If you haven't read it yet, I add my endorsement to Allison's.

Posted by: red at August 19, 2004 03:47 PMThe book? Or your clarification?
I wish the Ramones well, but it won't be the same without Joey.
Posted by: Dan at August 19, 2004 03:49 PMHeh heh - Yes, I read my own clarification and it was AMAZING.
No, the Ramones won't be the same without Joey.
Posted by: red at August 19, 2004 03:50 PMI haven't read Please Kill Me, but I highly recommend Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung, a collection of Lester Bangs stuff.

Posted by: susanna at August 20, 2004 01:04 AMActually - I think the concert itself is in California - not NYC - otherwise I would definitely try to be there.
Posted by: red at August 20, 2004 10:00 AMX is opening? With the original line-up again (they toured last year)?
Damn - what a GREAT show.
Posted by: Dan at August 20, 2004 12:26 PMWho in their right mind doesn't love the Ramones? :)
