Once you go down the Youtube-clip rabbit hole with Jerry Reed, you will lose hours of your life. And then I found this picture of Jerry Reed and have fallen in love with it.

A man can get hissef lost in the Louisiana bayous. Woman too.
HEAVENLY. Thank you for this.
Wow–I have not thought of this song in years! Thank you so much for this!
That photo makes me wonder what’s going through his head (and secondarily, that I still own a pair of those Adidas.)
My favorite Jerry line from Smokey: “That’ll work for me, ’cause l need to pull off, suck up a little go-go juice and put some groceries down my neck.”
YES.
Well, well! Here is the musician poster for my middle years!
Wayfaring Stranger is one of my faves from Jerry. I’m sure you’ve listened to his duets with Chet, too? Thanks for sharing!
Oh yes – his duets with Chet Atkins are incredible. I love those clips and those songs.
OK, philistine that I am, I’d never heard of Jerry Reed before your blog. New fan! To say the least. ;)
After losing waaaay too much time down the YT rabbit hole, I’ve added lots of new vids to my Favorites list — including the delicious “Lord, Mr. Ford.” (“stand back, son, I’m gonna do some pickin’ now”)

Thanks Sheila!!
Smokey and the Bandit too!
He really was one of a kind. My last Elvis post was about the Jerry Reed sessions on Elvis’ records (1967). Legendary stories.
Too weird – I was just flipping channels and there was a Scooby Doo movie called “The Phantom of the Country Music Hall” with Jerry Reed doing guest voice duty. I used to have a small crush on him after seeing him in those Smokey movies with Burt Reynolds in my early teens. He was a sexy stud.
Nice!! Yes, I had a big crush on him too from Smokey and the Bandit. Total wild-man. Stud, indeed.
The first time I saw him was on an episode of Alice and have been in love with him ever since the 70’s. Crushing like mad.
Oh my gosh, I forgot that he was on an episode of Alice!! I wonder if it’s on Youtube – I will check.
