Oscars 2016: If We Picked the Winners: On Sylvester Stallone in Creed

Well, you know I was thrilled when I was assigned to write on Sly in his Oscar-nominated Best Supporting actor performance in Creed for Rogerebert.com’s If We Picked the Winners series. (Table of Contents here.) Check back throughout the week as more pieces go live. There’s a nice symmetry because I was assigned to write on Creed for the Rogerebert.com 10 Best Films of 2015.

I love Sylvester Stallone in nearly everything, and so it was not a surprise to me that he was good as he is in Creed. Stallone is ALWAYS good. But when has he ever been asked to get this personal, go this deep? That is the risk he took on when accepting the role.

Here’s my short essay on Sylvester Stallone in Creed.

Great fun to read and will you say ‘thank you’ to Mitch for the phrase ‘spank-bank fodder.’ ;-)
