Wait! I know nothing of this movie. Have you seen it? Is it any good? Cassavetes & Garland – wow.

Ted – yes, can you believe it?? I actually have seen it – years ago. Mitchell was the one who made me see it. As far as I can tell it is NOT available on DVD which sucks big-time … it’s really quite remarkable to see her in a role directed by Cassavetes. I mean, she was acting like she was in a Cassavetes film in the 40s, for God’s sake – so to see her in that independent film environment – pretty cool. See if you can track it down on VHS!

Burt Lancaster is in it, too. It was really ahead of its time – in what it was portraying … It’s about autism! A little autistic boy in a school whose parents have basically just dumped him there – she’s amazing, a raw nerve (surprise surprise!!)

I just love how intent she is in that picture. They’re rehearsing, obviously, discussing the scene – and she is so in the moment – it’s like she’s hearing whatever Cassavetes is saying with every molecule in her body. Isn’t she so intent??

I love pictures like that! It makes me miss working on stuff. btw, I did track down Compulsion on vhs and we watched it this weekend. The two young guys are really good but Orson Welles is majestic – he’s so simply there and involved in the life of that man and what he stands for that it seems to change the focus of the lens. I just wanted to watch and watch him. I’m not sure if I’m going to post on it yet.

Isn’t he wonderful?? Shooting the film was a nightmare because he was living in Mexico at the time – because of all of his tax problems – so he could only spend a certain amount of time in the States – which made the scheduling a nightmare.

I think Dean Stockwell is pretty damn awesome, too.

And EG Marshall!!! I love him!

    So glad you saw it!
