Next up in the series I’ve been doing for Epicurious on food in film, is a piece on Pulp Fiction. There’s barely a scene without food in it. The monologue about blueberry pancakes always makes me hungry.

Oh yes, the thing about the pancakes…and the way the biggest disappointment of that whole incredibly messed-up day is that she had to settle for the buttermilk!
What makes me hungry in this movie is the Kahuna Burger, when Jules grabs Brett’s to taste it. Tarantino throws in a very quick, tight close-up of the burger itself as Jules grabs it…you get just a glimpse of this brightly-colored burger, with the red ketchup oozing out from the new pressure on the bun…and the sound of the burger’s paper wrapper crinkling…crap, I want a burger now SO FREAKING BAD.
Yup, I talk about that scene in the piece. “That is one tasty burger.”
