I love lists like this: Best Book Designs of 2008.
Gorgeous. Most of these books would stop me in my tracks in a bookstore just from the look of them.

Ooh! I love this. Okay. I have to expound, sorry:
~I love the simplicity of the black-and-white upside-down one. Although I have to confess, I just NOW realized the title was “The Trouble With Physics” and NOT “The Trouble With Psychics.” I think the design works with either title, actually, but, to be honest, I was much more interested in reading it when I thought it was about psychics.
~ Love the simplicity, too, of the “Against Happiness” one.
~ I never thought I’d want to read a book about milk, but I totally do.
~ Or a book about the plague.
(“Whatcha doin’ this weekend, Trace?” “Oh, you know, just eatin’ cookies and readin’ ’bout milk and the plague.”)
~ The Kafka one, hahahahaha.
~ The silhouettes on The Terror Dream ARE terrifying.
~ I like most of these a lot, but I really don’t like the James Frey cover. It’s obnoxious to me, but maybe that’s the point. I dunno. My knee-jerk reaction is I would NOT read it.
~ I’m bugged that several of these say “Designer Unknown.” How does that happen?? How does the designer go “unknown”? This is going to torment me at 3 a.m. I just know it.
I love these things! Thanks for posting it, Sheila!
I love your comments, Tracey! I had to go back and look at them again. I love some of the stark and startling images. I love the upside down one, and I love the terror dream one, too. Terrifying.
I feel almost like they blurred out the neon of James Frey’s name so that his terrible reputation might not precede him … like: who is that by? I cant quite make it out …
I am still bummed that it isn’t “The Trouble With Psychics.”
That would be a MUCH better book.
Seriously, I need to know the truth about psychics. I am not even kidding.
