Chet Atkins & Mark Knopfler: “House of the Rising Sun”

Chet Atkins: “I used to sing this when I was 8 years old and I didn’t know what it was about.” [Pause.] “What IS it about?”
Mark Knopfler: “It’s one of them titty bars, don’t ya know.”
Chet Atkins: “I thought it was just a house.”

Here’s the clip. They won’t let me embed it. But it’s worth sharing, poor quality notwithstanding. Amazing guitars.

Wish I could write about my Mark Knopfler fandom the way you write about some of yours. I have all of his albums and all of the Dire Straits albums, a couple of VHS tapes, and quite a few DVDs. Amazing guitar player, amazing songwriter.

Rob – That’s so cool about the guitar-shaped USB case – what a great thing for fans!!

      He really is so wonderful.

I love the concert he did with Scotty Moore – singing all Elvis songs – I’m sure you know it. He seems like a really nice man, too.

I just find it so touching, how much he reveres Scotty Moore. I mean, one SHOULD revere Scotty Moore – but still.

He has quite a few guitar heroes.

Here’s one of my faves with Hank B Marvin and a couple of familiar red guitars: http://youtu.be/5MfD0nPAqro
