Seriously creepy ep. Bunny head and clown face will be showing up in my dreams tonight.

    • carolyn clarke says:

I agree, Paula. I love the fact that the show is starting to scare me again, but between creepy masks and killer clowns, I was tempted to keep all the lights on last night when I went to bed.

…and whatever you do, please don’t throw me in the briar patch. I mean, don’t open the cage.

I always like Brigid Brannagh, she did a nice job with the regretful sister/mom monologue.

  3. Helena says:

Very enjoyable episode and always a delight to see Donna Hanscombe being her beautiful, competent self. ‘Mind your own beeswax, Sam.’ Her list of great things about Minnesota – Prince, the Curd Cheese Fest. Doug II’s moustache is also very fine.

I thought the episode generally looked great – some really striking and beautiful shots, especially of Sam. And great performances from the supporting cast. Nice to see that neighbour from a Very Supernatural Christmas again, and I’m sure there were other returnees too.

In a script peppered with great lines my favourite has to be ‘I was just hammerin my bis, getting all swole’. I am proud I actually know what that means.

Jesus, never mind ‘inappropriate behaviour’ with kids tho … If I saw a kids entertainer turn up at my house in that clown mask I would summon the whole town to chase him down with flaming torches. And what’s with the entire town’s obsession with creepy costumes? That’s a whole episode in itself.

  4. Barb says:

My favorite part? Dean finally getting someone to laugh at a corny joke! Seriously, you find someone like that, you should marry them.

  5. Kathy I. says:

So I had to look up all the cool kids’ references but I’m in now! Greatest moment? Sam calling the elevator and when it arrives? Horrible bloody clown! And Sam *stepped in*. His expression was great and I was pretty impressed that he could step into that elevator with his worst fear.

Question: How would Sam get back to the Cage to see what’s happening? Last time he went in with all of the Horseman rings, including Death’s. So. Did Death’s ring fall onto the floor when Dean killed him? Or, a back-door that only Crowley will know about? My mind got stuck on this last night but at least it didn’t leave time for Bunny dreams.

    • Paula says:

Good question. My guess is Crowley back door. When Lucifer went in the Cage the first time, he was still an ambitious crossroads demon. Now that he is King of Hell, maybe he got access to all the official plans a la President Whitmore in Independence Day learning about Area 51.

Plus we know that the demons were reporting that there was a ruckus going on in the Cage to Crowley. They must be able to get close enough to hear what’s going on, right?

  6. Michelle says:

Oh how I loved this episode! It had a vengeful ghost…..I have been sorely missing ghosts……Donna, and Sam and Dean having a conversation about the Cage.

Those costumes were horribly creepy and the clown was the worst. That elevator scene was incredible…..Jared deserves awards for his facial acting.

    • Jessie says:

not only did we have c-c-c-clowns and g-g-g-g-ghosts, iron and salt-circles, creepy shots and multiple bloody murders, suburban discord and ugliness, we also had a kid named Max threatening his scratchy-voiced mum after a recent death of an uncle…

      • Helena says:

I knowwww … she sounded just like Xanax-mom from Season 1. It wasn’t her though, was it?

      • mutecypher says:

I was thinking Where The Wild Things Are with Max and the animal costume. I wonder if his dinner was still warm when it was all over.

        • Helena says:

          This is genius.

All the monsters were based on Sendak’s relatives. But I don’t think they went around wearing bunny or deer heads.

        • Melanie says:

          Mutecypher,
You have redeemed yourself from your poor taste iin humor with this WTWTA reference. My grandmother, the librarian, ordered this book for us when it won the Caldecott. My copy even has a stamp “Madison County Public Library” in it. This was one of my most beloved books. That movie destroyed my wonderful childhood memories and I have banished it forever from my mind palace. Supernatural on the other hand is delicious when they turn the bright, happy memories of childhood into creepy, terrifying spectres.
“And the walls became the world all around…”

      • Paula says:

*lightbulb* wow, missed this during the whole sibling parallel and “I should have trusted my brother” monologue.

  7. Wren Collins says:

I’d rewatched Plucky Pennywhistle’s LITERALLY the day before. Coincidence? I think not. JP is so funny. Seriously, he seemed on the verge of hysterics.
Also: the clowns were horrifying. And the bunny. But, hell, what about that effing DEER?
Also, JP’s spaghetti legs leaning against the hospital wall make me very happy.
Has anyone else seen the promo for 11×08?

  8. Helena says:

re scary bunny masks – this popped up in my tumblr feed today

It is totally suitable for work. In fact it may even be best to view it in daylight and the company of other humans.

  9. Troopic says:

    Oh my THAT EPISODE!!!
They are SO back on the horse!

A friend of mine even noticed the title card for s11 resemblling the one of the first season. This is so great, I’m practically VIBRATING with anticipation!
This season is here to correct all wrongs of seasons past! (as in the past two. They were, imho, the weakest links in the chain :( )

But I have to say that the costumes and the bunny – they were the least creepy thing.
The stranger-danger in the episode – now THAT was creepy.
U mean, after the revelation of the things Chester got accused of – the next scene is Dean coming into Max’s house, when there is no parent around???
NO WAY that was a coincidental cut. NO WAY.

And to shoot the tazing of Max with iron – it deliberatly done by revealing his upper back?

Now, THAT was a creepy sequence of scenes/shots.

I LOVE it that you guys deciphered the references for me!
Yes, it is as if Dean has a whole life story of drug use that comes up again and again.
My guess? That period of time when he was hunting alone while Sam was in Stanford? Actually makes a lot of sence :3

    • Paula says:

//The stranger-danger in the episode// I agree that it was creepy and uncomfortable. Max letting a strange adult like Dean into the house to wait for his mother after his uncle was killed for supposedly being a pedophile? It had two implications and I couldn’t decide which was right. Was Max intuitive and could tell his uncle and Dean meant him no harm? Or was he naive and vulnerable to predators? We knew as the audience that Dean was a protector but this kid didn’t. The reverse is true. Did we the audience truly know that his uncle was harmless to other kids? Max said so (nothing happened to him personally) and the sister’s guilt said so, but something was off in the kid’s reaction.

  10. hello from the other other void
