Barack Obama used to listen to “Lose Yourself” backstage before he gave a big speech. It got him pumped up. It gets everyone pumped up. It gets me pumped up and I have listened to this song probably 10,000 times. I love that Eminem gave permission to Biden to use this song for Biden’s final campaign advertisement. Eminem almost never licenses his music to anyone for anything. But he said Yes to this. It’s not surprising, all things considered, particularly with Eminem’s attempts in Michigan right now to make it easier for people to vote … opening up sporting stadiums so that more people can vote, and more people can vote safely, what with Covid. Also not surprising considering his politics, in general, but still: I really like that he gave permission to Biden for this. (Someone joked on Twitter that 45 keeps getting Cease and Desist letters for using people’s songs at his rallies. Seriously: have these people ever listened to the lyrics of “Born in the USA”? I swear to God, it’s like the Reagan era all over again. All they hear is the title and it validates their xenophobia and racism. These fuckin’ morons. Anyway, so 45 keeps using songs and being told to stop, and Biden asks to use Eminem’s #1 most iconic song, his most famous song, his Oscar-winning song, the song most associated with him, and Em says “Yes.”

I voted via secure dropbox in the second week of October, since I would be out of town for the rest of the month, and remain out of town, and may never go BACK to town if I can help it.
