I love Payton Tolle. He is 23 years old but he looks like a 40-year-old baseball veteran from 1976. and he’s this open book. Just this big cuddly open guy. we are all a little obsessed over here.
I was afraid this was some detail I’d forgotten from, like, the ’07 championship run, but a web search brought up a story explaining what the deal is. Pretty cool story, maybe this Tolle guy will take over from Gronk in the lovable goof department. I don’t think I’ve seen him before this; despite the Sox’ 2nd half surge they’ve been strangely scarce in national broadcasts this year, even the recent series with the Yanks didn’t make my local TV, so Sox watching has been limited this year
hahaha yes it happened this week. The O’Malley group chat – with 50 people on it, all cousins and aunts and uncles – blew up!
Tolle’s mother died from cancer and she always used to say to him “You’re so pretty” – calling it out to him when he was on the field, basically to tease him – but after she passed he had “you’re so pretty” engraved on his glove in pink letters. He weeps openly when he talks about her. He’s touchingly vulnerable and we are all here for it!
My sister and husband were at one of the recent Yankee-Red Sox games!
The Rick’s had a nice week – his show Survivor’s Remorse was chosen as one of the best sports TV shows of all time by the Hollywood Reporter. It’s a good list, I think. Humorously, another O’Malley cousin – Emma Carroll – was in A League of Their Own – and that made the list too.
So it’s been a good week for O’Malley cousins all around.
A hug, I hope!
It was! This random hug from Tolle, a man Canzone doesn’t know at all. It was so adorable.

Ah hell, now I’m crying. Gonna have to go out in public so I can do it openly
crying in public is the way to go, for sure
Just occurred to me that The Rick must be in that chat. Still remember his ESPN ads from the 90s
lollll the Rick is for sure in that chat!
