The Ring 2 is coming.
Dan? Have you gotten caller ID yet, as we discussed here? I think you might have a well to house call … will you accept the charges?

Well I’ll almost definitely put it on the List.. but I don’t think it was a wise decision for Hideo Nakata. Welcome to Hollywood. That said, his original version is one of the most unnerving movies I have ever seen.
Ah yes … I suppose I shouldn’t have said “the first one” – since in reality “the first one” was a remake. Which was also unpleasantly frightening.
Heh. I could dismiss it as “the remake”, Sheila.. but that wouldn’t be fair.. I think whichever version is seen second, of those two, loses part of the impact by seeming familiar.
That said.. I thoroughly recommend the original to anyone who hasn’t seen it.

To this day, the original Vanishing is one of the most frightening movies I have ever seen – and it’s all psychological – it almost has a documentary feel to it.
I can’t recommend it highly enough – and I also have to say: SEE THE ORIGINAL before you see the stupid Hollywood version with its stupid deus ex machina.
Have you seen the movie of which I speak, peteb, by any chance??
Well.. I haven’t seen the Holllywood remake of The Vanishing, so it would be unfair of me to make a comparison.
But I would still name the original Japanese version of The Ring (Ringu) as the most unsettling movie I’ve ever seen.
so … did you see the Dutch version of The Vanishing? Or …
