    Every time I look at a wall like that, I think about the men who erected it. Men sweated over that wall, putting each brick in piece-by-piece. I like to look at the pattern(s), and I like to look at little specific areas, and think about a hand placing the brick RIGHT there. And I wonder what they were thinking, if they are still alive, and where they went afterwards.

    I know. I love that brickwork. And old architecture – the craftsmanship that went into it. I still get excited when I catch a glimpse of some awesome doorfront or gargoyle in between the gleaming soulless modern buildings (but also built with care!!)
