Movies That Move Us: “Julia Roberts Is Almost …… Opaque …”

You saw them as the tough-talkin’ Beach Detectives. Now you can see Larry Clarke and Brendan O’Malley in a new movie-review show called: Movies That Move Us.

The film analysis is insightful (“It … is … a MOVIE”), the criticism is thought-provoking (“Total TRASH”), and the commentary on acting is world-class (“Good luck trying to find Daniel Day-Lewis in this movie because he disappears …”).

I’ve watched it 10 times by now.

Hilarious! Harrison Ford as a “freshman” director of a film in which Donald Sutherland teaches knitting says it all. Jesus! And they look like they’re having so much fun doing it.
    It’s infectious.

Larry saying, “We all have blood that bleeds …”

So serious, so stupid!! Like, he is just MAKING THAT UP!

  3. sheila says:

Also, I love how it is suddenly revealed that the movie is a musical, almost as an afterthought

  4. brendan says:

Hee hee hee. This is 11 minutes long and it is seriously the only 11 minutes out of 6 hours of footage where we aren’t laughing.

  5. sheila says:

Also, I love how when you DON’T like a movie, you have zero to say about it. Like, you just give up on film critiquing in the face of something that ISN’T an “instant classic”. You get totally disheartened and basically give up on your whole career. It’s so funny. I want more!!

Hearing Melody’s voice was making me laugh too.

  7. DBW says:

I was laughing along with them to the point my wife asked me, “What is so funny?”

  8. sheila says:

hahahaha I keep discovering funny moments.

    “Was she credited??”
    “Yes. She was. First billing.”

    I also love: “She’s a senior citizen … playing a teenager … It’s ridiculous.”

  9. brendan says:

i am just so pleased that people are liking this! it was so much fun to do! ha haha…we knew it was funny to us so it is nice to know it translates. obviously i think larry is unbelievably funny…when he says “i’m not afraid to call it a thriller” i lose it every time.

  10. sheila says:

I love: “It’s an incredible quote, it’s an incredible movie.”

    hahahahahaha

  11. sheila says:

    IT’S NOT AN INCREDIBLE QUOTE.

These guys are the worst critics ever.

Also, the first time you say “Come back”, Bren, in the very beginning, I get angry at your character.

  12. brendan says:

I know! That moment is so GROSS!!! We are planning the next one as we speak!

  13. David says:

    hahahahaHAHAHAHAH!!

“played whimsicially by Donald Sutherland.” Fuck you.

“It is a movie.” hahahaha. Yes, yes it is a movie. Hilarious.

“I didn’t want to waste the ink or the finger muscles.”

    I couldn’t stop laughing. I want more!

The look Brendan gives when “Lee” says “My favorite balcony partner…”

  14. David says:

Oh and poor Steve….he is not getting paid near enough.

  15. sheila says:

    hahahahahaha Poor Steve.

I love when Bren goes, “You do not look good.”
