Have an image of the first time I saw Ann-Margret – in a saffron summer dress, solo against a blue background, singing the title song from Bye Bye Birdie burned into my memory. Thank you God for memory.
She is so awesome, isn’t she?
Could this be why Warren Zevon’s Brother Billy ain’t been right since Vietnam?
Not an empty seat.
Who is today’s sensuous /kitten/babe to entertain our homesick boys?
I can’t think of a one.
I can’t think of a one either. Look at that crowd!! And her pose, and her boots!
I know before she passed away Brittany Murphy did a bunch of tours over there. Not comparable, I know, she’s not of the same stature, but she was committed to doing it, loved doing it, would sing, dance, do skits, pose for pictures. I don’t know how many times she went over there, and it wasn’t publicized at all, but it was a bunch.
She was no Ann Margret, obviously, but still, it was rather heart-warming.
