Oasis On a Rainy Night

(Guess Matt really loves Natasha, huh?)

Picture Dio’s “Don’t Talk to Strangers” blasting in the background and you’ll get the full picture.

I got some good writing done at this joint, sitting in an old rubbery chair like the kind you find on a boat-ferry, something waterproof. I work well surrounded by chaos and the clack of pool balls. The blasting of Dio was hilarious. I promise, Dio, I won’t talk to strangers, please stop screaming in my ear about it.

The Rusty Knot!! I love that place. It’s magical around 5:30-6:00 (well, later now) when the sun starts setting and the light comes through those venetian blinds. I loved sitting in those rubbery chairs, reading and watching this eclectic crowd come in.

David, I absolutely love it there. By the time I left to come see your show, it was starting to get packed – but when I walked in it was just the tattooed bartender playing pool with a buddy – and two women sitting in a booth talking loudly about their romantic issues. It was DEAD, and I had the whole place to myself it felt like. The rain was coming down outside … I just love the vibe. must remember that place. Very good for writing.

Oh, and remind me to tell you about the encounter I had with a group of feral teenagers on my way over to your show. I had a moment where I thought, “Am I about to be murdered?” and then in the next moment I thought, “I love these kids.” Insane.
