I know you’ll laugh at this bad Trixie Belden book cover. II love the comment too). So my X-rated chapter additions weren’t quite off the mark, huh? Judgmental Christian families booting me out of their house notwithstanding?
That’s not the cover of the copy I had, though.
Here’s an entire archive of bad book covers. I am CRYING about some of them (and the commentary is hysterical – example – for the book entitled The Good Old Days, the comment says: Ah, the good old days, when deformed freaks would wander around the prairie on really short stilts.) Etc. Pages and pages of horrible book covers. Heaven.
Thanks for linking, Ernie.
I had a Satan Burger once. It gave me gas.
hahaha
How ’bout the cover for “Virgin Heat”? I find it completely disturbing.
Sheila,
I saw this earlier today and was totally thinking about the “Virgin Heat” one. Um…kittie in a ring of fire…cannot compute…cannot compute.
I can’t get past the thought of Columbo investigating the Manson murders. Can you imagine him interviewing Charlie? The comedic possibilities are endless.
Emily – hahaha Is it kind of akin to the “every time you masturbate a kitten is killed by a small demon chasing after it” thing that was circulating many moons ago?
But still … the logic is seriously flawed.
Dave E – hahahaha I know!!! Like – WTF is that about?? Colombo looming over poor Sharon Tate (RIP)?
And the Agatha Christie one on the third page – the little doll with the afro being hung from a swingset or whatever. Um, WHAT?!?!?
I know!! The comment on that one is particularly funny (and insightful).
…and what’s up with the giant iguana lurking in the background? I think most of these book covers were designed sometime in the late sixties when doctors were telling people LSD was good for them.
Holy shit, I’d forgotten about Trixie Belden. I read those back in forth grade because the teacher only had those on her bookshelves. That series is so old, and yet in 1997 I still picked them up.
There was a humorous takeoff on the relationship between Trixie and Nancy Drew on a blog which is now defunct… Tried to find it but can’t (Michele Catalano used to trackback to it alot)
thanks for the link! I have a bad feeling about how many of these books I own… that’s what I get for reading a lot of SciFi, I guess….
well, I was never ALLOWED to read Trixie Beldon. Those were Jayne’s books and Jayne’s alone. I remember one time when I borrowed a TB book from Beth just to piss Jayne off. heh heh heh…i think it worked too. I never even read the book.
hahahahahaha I remember you leaving the room when “Trixie” would come up.
HA!!
