My beautiful and talented singer-songwriter sister Siobhan is taking part in a large event in Atlanta – one that is going on all week. Rolling Stone just came out with a list of the top 500 songs – and this event is having today’s artists, from all over the country, play the songs – from 1 to 500. Siobhan will be playing #240 – “Son of a Preacher Man”! All the money raised is going to The SONGS FOR KIDS FOUNDATION, INC.
The event is being held at Smith’s Olde Bar. 1578 Piedmont NE. Tickets are 7 bucks at the door.
Siobhan will be playing #240 at 7:20 pm (sharp!) on Tuesday, May 8.
I so wish I could be there … if you live in or around Atlanta, it sounds like it’s gonna be a helluva lot of fun!
HOW COOL!!! I love that song! Will someone be recording it?
I don’t know! I’ll find out!
I wish I could be there – siobhan has lots of friends in Atlanta, so that’ll be such a fun night!
Excellent! -hey are you coming to RI this weekend?
Yes! I’ll either get in on Friday night or Saturday morning …
we have to have a get-together!
I believe our favorite hostess with the mostess is already planning. YAY!
I can’t wait! I’m JONESING to see you guys.
Me too! We’re WAY overdue.
I’m going to try to go, Sheila. I’d love to see your sister play and Atlanta isn’t too far from home for me. Thanks for the heads up!
Oh Marisa – cool! I’m jealous. :)
It does sound fun, doesn’t it?
Is there a list of the songs being performed. I think that would be fun to look over. I checked the website, but had no luck. Suggestions?
The list of songs is the one in Rolling Stone, susannah – I’m sure you could track it down there – so the festival musicians will be doing the songs in descending order. I actually think the festival has been going on for almost a week already!!
As hackle-raising as any TOP X SONGS OF X TIME list can be, that is a cool song, and most excellent news! Did she get to pick the song herself, or was it assigned, or was she suggested to Rolling Stone?
I believe that it was assigned to her – like she put in her name in for the event and then she received word of the song she would sing. It’s cool because that’s kind of in the style of her singing!
Was listening to Siobhan’s “Avenue C’d” on myspace music, and my wife said “Who are you listening to? Norah Jones?”
I think that a compliment ‘cus my wife LOVES Norah Jones…
