HA! Yes, my incomplete novelization of What’s Up Doc. I just never could keep track of the bags – which seems essential for the author of such a work.

  3. Brendan says:

in the commentary by peter bogdanovich he said that buck henry called him up late one night frantic because he’d lost track of one of the bags while writing the screenplay!

    ha!

hahahahaha I love that. Like: where did it go??

It’s like Howard Hawks calling up Raymond Chandler – author of the original Big Sleep – and asking him, in the middle of filming, “Listen, Raymond – we are trying to figure out who pushed Owen off the pier – and nobody can figure it out – who did it??”

Raymond Chandler, who wrote the thing, had no idea.

    HA!!!

This may be the oddest thing you read all day: The novelization of Buckaroo Banzai is actually quite good. I think the screenwriter, W.D. Richter, wrote it. In tone it’s like a Doc Savage novel; Reno is the narrator.
