Review: Gimme Shelter (2014)

No, it’s not about the Rolling Stones. Why you would name your film Gimme Shelter, then, is incomprehensible to me.

The film has some problems, it’s too obvious, it’s too episodic, the soundtrack is so on the nose you can’t believe they chose the songs they did.

But Hudgens is good. There’s a religious aspect to the film which seems to be bothering some people. I thought they treaded pretty lightly. Maybe it’s my Catholic upbringing with all those formidable nuns in my family who are the most compassionate can-do walk-the-walk people I’ve ever met in my life. But I go into that in the review.

My review is up at Roger Ebert.
