Just because a film is geared for human beings who barely reach the two-foot-tall mark, doesn’t mean it has to be dumb. Or simplistic.

My review of The Hero of Color City is now up at Rogerebert.com.

Sounds like a tragic waste of Wayne Brady and Craig Ferguson, meaning no disrespect to the rest of the cast.

You’re right. You don’t necessarily even need to aim as high as Pixar, though it sure don’t hurt none when you’re making a point.

When I saw the image above and read your capsule before clicking over, my first thought was “Veggie Tales, without Christianity.” I’m not knocking Color City for that, but for not being clever. Veggie Tales is clever. So is Arthur. So was Doug. So was Hey, Arnold! So was WonderPets. So is Phineas and Ferb (one of the most fiendishly clever shows in the history of history, as SpongeBob might have said…with two sons, I got to watch a lot of cartoons in the ‘Oughts).

      hahahaha

Yes, so much stuff for kids is great. Boxtrolls, which I reviewed last week, is phenomenal. This (while, granted, is for much younger kids, probably – literally 4 or 5 year olds) feels totally dead inside. Un-creative.

      The LEGO Movie was fantastic!
