Syncopated Ladies: Tap-Dancing Tribute to Prince

The Syncopated Ladies are a tap-dancing group based in Los Angeles, headed up by Chloe Arnold (she and her sister Maud were both featured in the wonderful documentary Tap World). They have a Facebook group where you can see their latest videos.

Here is their tap-dancing tribute to Prince. Tapping away to “When Doves Cry.” I love the choreography, how those taps coincide with Prince’s background arrangement. It’s gorgeous.

    that’s amazing.

I took tap for years, back when I was young. It wasn’t until I took tap again as an adult that I recognized the value of the silence between the taps. A lot of tap choreography changed in the intervening time, making me love tap even more. This is exactly what I love about modern tap.

      What a great observation!

Have you seen the documentary I mentioned – Tap World? It came out last year – thought it was great. They talk a lot about the changing trends in tap, really interesting.
