My nephew Cashel, who will be 6 in October, lost his first tooth. He left me a message about it on my cell phone. Saying softly and seriously, informing me of the facts, “I lost a tooth.” Then there was a brief pause, and he could no longer contain himself, so he shrieked gleefully, “I LOST A TOOTH.”
I cannot believe it. I’m not ready for him to have big-boy teeth! He’s only 5! What is this world coming to!!
Congratulations, Cashel! Welcome to the world of big-kid teeth.
Oh, Cashel! How exciting! Kids in RI are rejoicing with you!
I didn’t lose my first tooth until I was 7 years old … so 5 still seems so little to me!! Cashel lost his tooth in the middle of his last day of kindergarten. Very symbolic. And then later that night, he woke up crying from a nightmare. My brother comforted him, asking, “What was the dream about, Cashel?” Cashel wept, “I’m sad that I’ll never see my tooth again!”
Oh, my heart!!
Cashel sounds wise beyond his five years…what a sweetie…and what a big moment in his life…I don’t remember when I lost my first tooth, but I do remember the sensation of the tooth dangling by a thread in my mouth, and of spinning it and wiggling it with my tongue, not even trying to make it fall out, just experiencing the feeling of that looseness…
We had a first lost tooth last week and it really is a big deal for a five year old (and his mom). The tooth fairy strikes again! Congrats Cashel.
