To all the Oscar-winners tonight, congratulations! But just remember: chances are at one point in your life you will be like Bette Davis in The Star, talking to your Oscar as you drive drunk through Beverly Hills, wondering if you will ever work again.
What’s your take on the “mistake” about best picture? A weird planned joke? A way to bury the picture since it carries “controversial themes”? How in the world could that have happened to the most important award of the night? I’m left feeling very sorry for the folks in both pictures who were left confused and embarrassed in a moment that should have been wonderful for them.
Shit happens. And no, no conspiracy theory or ulterior motives. :) Just a screw up. shrug.
