I’ve always been a little in love with Alan Cummings.
Me too. I love how naughty he is in this, moving his shoulders back and forth with a naughty little smile. It’s hysterical!
I recommend ‘Life After Tomorrow’, a documentary about women who played orphans in the Broadway or touring companies of ‘Annie’. I just watched it on hulu the other day.
Doc – I haven’t seen that, thanks! I saw Annie when I was a kid – and Sarah Jessica Parker, age 12, 13, played the lead role. She was fantastic. We were about the same age, she was a bit older, and I was amazed that a girl close to my age was on Broadway. Wonderful voice.
This is one of my favorite villain songs ever, especially since it’s so catchy and cheerful…One character thing I love is how at the beginning Rooster and, especially, Miss. Hannigan keep shutting Lily out of the conversation, while she keeps trying to butt in and look over their shoulders. It’s great set up for the the end (which is different in this version, right? Miss. Hannigan dressing up instead and the “two-way” split?) Anyway, love this song and every perfect second of these three together!
I know – I love how Lily is truly confused when she says “Where would that put us?” With her head peeking up over Kathy Bates’ shoulders. hahaha Like: seriously, Lily? You still don’t get it??
