    Dance for me, David!

  3. red says:

I think my favorite part is the expressions on the faces of people watching.

  4. Emily says:

Now way. The white boy overbite is the BEST.

  5. Lisa says:

The actors in the background were PERFECT. Oh sure, Ricky Gervais = brill, but all the “office mates” had just PERFECT looks of horror/embarrassment/amusement going.

  6. red says:

    hahaha

That scene is one of the most uncomfortable moments in television history..

    LOOK AT HIM.

  7. siobhan says:

i looked at this picture at 9am, and here it is, 3:33pm and i’m still laughing UNCONTROLLABLY at it. i love it when he does the arm moves–probably right after this moment–where both of his arms are doign these robot-esque moves. here i go, laughing again.

  8. red says:

Thanks for sending it to me, Siobhan … hahahaha

The chick in red looks particularly horrified. If I recall correctly, she was Neil’s “Saturday Night Fever” dance partner – hence, the outfit. Their dance performance caused David to become what we see in this picture.

  9. red says:

Siobhan – have you seen the special features? With the outtakes? They are so damn funny.

At one point, Ricky Gervais literally cannot say the line: “What I don’t like is what I call the anti-laugh.”

  10. siobhan says:

we talked about the “anti-laugh” at riviera! remember? i also liked the blooper when ricky keeps using both hands to point at his seat–and martin freeman CANNOT stop laughing.

  11. red says:

    hahahahahahahaha

  12. Quote of the Day

“LOOK AT HIM.” -Sheila O’Malley I think I’m going to be laughing at that picture for a year. At least….

  13. skillzy says:

That guy kind of resembles me. When I get home, I’ll dig up my famous Charlotte Observer picture, where I’m doing a textbook White Man’s Overbite. In a tux. It was on the front of the Sunday Social section.

  14. Emily says:

    Skillzy,
You should send the photo into the BBC’s “Brentalikes” contest.

  15. red says:

The more I look at Gareth’s expression in the background the funnier this whole scenario seems.

  16. Joel Caris says:

Oh god, that was one of the funniest parts of the show. I almost died the first time I saw it.

Incidentally, just picked up the full series box set on Saturday night. Gonna have to rewatch the series.

Do you like the American version, Sheila? It’s certainly not the equal of the original, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how good it is.

  17. Alex says:

I have to do a tribute to the American version. This show is genius. And so is everyone involved. Brilliant.

  18. Jon Barnard says:

Have you seen the two-part Christmas special, which rounds off the whole story? I won’t say anything about it in case you haven’t, except that it is perfect.

Photo Project – My Fifteen Minutes

Earlier today Sheila posted a screenshot from The Office which featured a pretty nice example of that favorite dance of WASPy men everywhere, the White Man’s Overbite. The guy looks kind of like me, so I dug out an old newspaper clipping that shows th…

  20. DBW says:

I feel like a cultural outcast, but I have no idea what this is. It certainly looks, and sounds, funny.

  21. red says:

Oh DBW … it’s from the British TV series “The Office”. It’s a mockumentary, taking place in a dreary office – and the guy pictured above is David Brent, the “boss”. I really don’t know how else to describe this show, except that it’s feckin’ genius.

I think you can get The Office on Netflix.

  22. Come let me take you on a party ride

I never have had a boss like this guy, but I did have a coworker too much like this character. The most Unforgettably Painful-To-Watch Moment in that office was during one of our Christmas parties. Every year the Christmas…
