A Family Walk. EYES.

On November 19th, my sister Jean had her second baby. His name is William. He was named for my father. We all love him so much, and Lucy (his big sister, not even 2 years old yet) is handling the adjustment beautifully. As of now, her “w”s and “l”s are a bit iffy, so she calls him, “Yay-um”, which is a wonderful nickname. You point at the little guy and say, “Who’s that, Lucy?” and she answers bluntly, “Yay-um.” Yes. Yay-um. She pats him on the arm (with Pat, her dad, and Jean, saying, “Gentle … gentle …”). She’s being a very good girl. She has been told that she cannot, under no circumstances, touch his eyes. This has been drilled into her head. It appears to always be on her mind, because if you’re holding William, she’ll stand right there, looking down at him, and state, loudly, “EYES.” Hands behind her back. Like, she is reminding herself. And telling you that she knows. But it’s hysterical. She walks over, looks down at him, and declares, “EYES.”

Over Thanksgiving, we took a brisk walk down by the ocean with both babies. My mother, Jean, Siobhan, myself, and two baby carriages. It was a cold dark day. And there was one Abbey Road moment, which will be immediately apparent.

I miss William. It’s already been way too long since I have seen him. He has a beautiful little face, an impressive chin, and looks so Irish all he needs is a shillelagh.

Is that some sort of church behind them? In the last photo?

I have never been sure what that actually is. It looks like a medieval fort. In the middle of a beach village.

Jean would know what it is. I’ll find out.

It was a church at one time. It has been used for storage (vintage limos I think) for the last few (10+) years. It’s currently for rent if you want a cool building in the Pier.
    As always, nice photos Sheila.
    See you soon.

Pat – Wow, vintage limos? Really?

Thinking of you guys! Miss you all!
