.
I’m in the Today’s Blogs section on Slate today, and I am called a “Joyce fanatic”. Not only that – but out of all my Joycean quotes today, they also excerpt something I said. Like I’m an expert or something!
So yes. As Kathy pointed out, I’m nuts. But to have my lunacy called out in a validating way??
Beautiful. I have arrived. Where exactly, I am not sure. But it feels nice.
Hooray for you!
Go You!!
*wild applause*
Sadly, they listed Bloomsday as happening in the wrong year. I sent them a politely worded correction along with my thank-you note.
That’s really cool, red. I just got the same feeling reading that as I get when I see someone I know on the tube. So, you must have indeed arrived.
Congratulations!
I blogged last year about the Bloomsday Centennial http://badhairblog.blogspot.com/2004/06/in-search-of-bloomsdays-past-and.html
Well done!
Kewl!
Hope Slate knows that, in addition to being a Joyce fanatic, you are a rich reserve of quotable quotes on a multitude of subjects and/or people. You’re the research assistant’s dream, Red!
Awesome job on the Bloomsday posts, Sheila. Hats off!
What took Slate so long to figure out what we devoted fans know already? Congrats!
Dear Research Assistant’s Dream:
I haven’t had time to check your blog since Tuesday because I’ve been hanging with Joyce Scholars at the 2005 North American James Joyce Conference at Cornell. What a wild, wacky group. Very convivial. Some of them downright hilarious. All the living big guns in that field came from far and wide, save for Fritz Zenn who stayed home in Switzerland.
Not a bad followup to the Dublin centennial gathering.
I had a blast.
More later. I’ll send you the URL for my stories when they publish next week.
