Great column. Wasn’t your brother in New Orleans for that same Superbowl?
The only thing I take issue with is Simmons saying he doesn’t think New Orleans will be back. It will take some time and effort, but despite everything, the Big Easy WILL be back. I know that as surely as as I know the sun will be coming up again tomorrow.
Dave J – excellent memory!! Yes, he was at the Superbowl. I don’t think he has yet recovered emotionally. And he is still hoarse.
Bill Simmons is one of my fave columnists too – I’ve been trained by my sports nut husband to read those columns on a regular basis. I thought his column on New Orleans was touching and well-written; I can poke fun at his subject matter but I can’t begrudge the guy’s talent.
