Thank you cousin Liam for sending me along this Rolling Stone link of Tom Petty’s ultimate Elvis Presley playlist. I should put together an ultimate Elvis playlist of my own. I like how Petty describes what is going on in the music that he loves here. That Christmas song (Lieber/Stoller, naturally) is truly filthy from beginning to end. “You’re gonna see me comin’ in a big black Cadillac …” Ha! Oh, and I LOVE ‘Mess of Blues’ too. Great song/great performance, with that real sob in his voice.
