Why is that?
Because MY IPOD ARRIVED.
My parents bought me a freakin’ IPOD. OH. MY. GOD.
I am beyond grateful. I had been “saving up” for one. And … it arrived. The blessed parent Gods to the rescue. THANK YOU.
I am now “importing” music into iTunes. This is a whole new language for me. I have no idea what I’m doing. But I am jittering on the edge of psychological collapse, merely from the excitement.
One of the other reasons I’m excited is that I can now listen to The Eminem Show without tracks 9 and 13. I know this is a controversial point to some Eminem fans – but I don’t like those 2 tracks. I always skip them. I listened to them the first time I listened to the album – and never listened to them again.
So now … importing that album … what a glorious feeling to click “de-select”.
ahhhhhhhh
I am beside myself.
The iPod will change my life.
Is one of them “Kim”?
I have an unholy love for Eminem and Kid Rock, as they are every guy I went to high school with. I’m probably the only 40-year-old you know who knows every word to “Black Chick White Guy.”
I actually love the song “Kim”. I think it’s genius!! Also … that they are now REMARRIED. hahahahaha Only someone who is your true love drives you that … insane.
No … they’re the songs “Drips” (ew) and “Superman”. I just don’t care for them. Every other song on the Eminem Show is just PERFECT.
How ’bout the whole Kid Rock/Scott Stapp scandal??? I LOVE IT. I can’t STAND Scott Stapp (and I love Kid Rock) so I love to see Stapp whining like a little beeyotch about someone trying to ‘sabotage his solo career” … Uhm, dude? You did that all yourself.
Scott Stapp is ick. He was all SUPER!CHRISTIAN! when he was with Creed and what now? He’s drunk and disorderly — to the point of being arrested — AT HIS WEDDING, then he’s all offended that there’s a video of some chick polishing his knob floating around out there.
Psh.
I am kind of anti-iPod, but I am pro MP3/WMA player, so congratulations.
anti-iPod? I don’t even know what that means. I’m excited. Whatever.
thanks, mum and dad!
Importing now like a maniac.
I am excited for you, Sheila. I’m not trying to bring you down.
I just think they add expense to the product because it is an iPod. There are other MP3-playing products out there that I’d rather have. And, I don’t like iTunes. Most other players don’t have to have a software interface to work. Just copy your MP3s over to the device.
However, a pro, iTunes is a powerful program. There are neat features and a really cool service bundled in it.
My van’s CD player recognizes MP3s and WMAs, so I’ve been continually burning these huge compilations and I wind up downloading them on every computer I use. It’s nice to be able to just dump and go or upload at will. But I would love to have an MP3 player to take to the gym and use in my car.
Well, you’re kinda dissing my parents great gift. It’s just inappropriate in this venue. How about just saying “Yay for you – glad you’re excited?” You have your opinion, that’s fine. Time and place.
Sorry. I was going to mention something about your excitement being infectious, and I guess I should have stuck with that.
No offense meant, really.
Lisa – I despised Creed … I just always hated them. He always seemed kinda … insincere, maybe????
cullen – I know. People care about technology and different brands. I understand.
Just … I don’t want to hear it AT THIS MOMENT. hahahaha
I am now listening to We Are the Champions on my damn IPOD.
I am so freakin’ happy right now.
it WILL! i can say from personal experience.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Beth …
I just put them all on shuffle – and I listened to “Play the Game” followed by “Til I collapse” … I am literally beside myself with excitement.
Now I need to figure out how to make Playlists. I need a ‘workout’ playlist – because I can’t have Joan Baez on while I’m working out … Having a hard time figuring it out though.
Please realize that I have, up until yesterday, been using a WALKMAN with CASSETTE TAPES. Mkay??
This is huge!
Ipod! So happy for you that you got one! I love mine… between having all my music with me all the time, and podcasts… …
Sheila, you are going to have SO MUCH FUN with playlists. Seriously. I swear by them. Oh, and the shuffle function is AMAZING because your ipod will randomly play songs that you would never in your right mind play back-to-back but sometimes it can be the most brilliant DJ. Like, I’ll be listening to my ipod on shuffle and one of the songs from the Twin Peaks soundtrack will play and then Kermit will start singing about rainbows and it’ll make me so happy that my ipod decided to take me on a journey from Julee Cruise to a little green frog. If that makes any sense.
Your ipod really will change your life. I wrote an entry about how my ipod has changed my life HERE.
Congrats on the new Ipod! Enjoy it!
My favorite part is buying ONE SONG from an old favorite album for 99 cents. God, it’s paradise. There’s so many albums from my youth where I’m glad to hear the whole thing again, once or twice, but usually there’s only one or two songs on there that I’m ready to hear over and over. Plus I love it when someone (YOU!) mention a song and I can just go buy it for 99 cents and voila, I’m au currant.
Killer invention. Have fun!
Congrats!!!! I wonder if, like me, you’ll start playing the “I wonder what he/she is listening to” when you see a person with the tell-tale white earbuds on the subway or bus. I admit it — occasionally I like to imagine what some stranger’s playlist might be comprised of. Of course, it also reduces me to stereotyping and generalizations but well… it’s still fun. ;)
Congrats and enjoy!! I’ve got quite the mp3 library compiled. Let me know if I can hook you up!
P.S. “Drips” is HEINOUS.
Ms. O’Malley,
You sure are lucky to have your own IPOD. I already know how to download songs and could really, really help you out in organizing your I-Tune’s stuff. I’ve asked my parents for an IPOD for the last two months, but on my birthday, all I got was a “LeapFrog” globe to teach me about geography and other countries. I guess I’ll just have to borrow my Mom’s IPOD shuffle for another year…
Your friend,
JFH’s seven year-old son
I’m a little jealous. I didn’t need to add covetousness to my list of sins; especially during Lent.
How awesome is JFH’s son’s posting?
I definitely need your help, JFH’s son … that would be great. I need to figure out how to make playlists and then put them into the iPod. Think you can hook me up??
And sorry about the Leap Frog globe. Geography is pretty cool, though, but I get your disappointment. I really do.
Dearest: I hope Brendan, Jean and Siobhan dont read this post. Will I have to buy them ipods as well? love, dad
Dad – oops!! Didn’t mean to incite envy in the siblings.
But still: best gift ever. I’m having a great time. Thanks, Dad!!!
Daughter: Has Ipod (gift from her half-bro in NYC)
Son: Has Shuffle (gift from me)
Me: MY FECKING CAR RADIO.
What’s this “iPiddy” or whatever that you’re all talking about? I still have records for chrissake.
So do I. I have been dragged kicking and screaming into the future.
I need to get a turntable. I love my vinyl.
Congrats! You will have so much fun with it (as you are discovering). It has changed my life or added to it, just to be able to have music as a constant again — sooo much easier. I love, love, love mine. And got my husband a Zen mp3 player for Xmas and he’s a convert too. What a wonderful invention. Glad you’re having the joy.
IT’S THE BEST RADIO STATION EVER!!!!!!!!
Carrie … I’m lovin’ it – listening to it on Shuffle right now. So cool!!
Apple’s web site has tons of great tutorials. This page will show you exactly how to make playlists.
Oh… and BTW, if you need help with playlists, drop me an email and I can try to walk you through it….
Mwaha. Your folks have superb taste. Welcome to the white earbuds club.
I love your references to Queen, especially “Play the Game”. That is Conor’s favorite song. Did I mention that he is going to the Queen concert next Friday??? He is also very, very into Pink Floyd lately. (Secretly smiling, cause I have done GOOD with my boy!!!!)
Bill and Sheila are such great people….when i come back i want a dad like Bill!
