Every year the day after Thanksgiving these life-size wooden carolers show up at the top of a small lane near my parents’ house. They stand on the corner, in choir garb, deeply absorbed in singing, and although they have appeared like clockwork for YEARS, they still have a tendency to scare the SHIT out of me when I come around the corner in my car, especially at night. The headlights swoop around the corner, which is all trees and brush and a stone wall, all darkness, and then … OMG, white-clad human figures standing there like a vision of the Zombie Apocalypse.
Nope. Just creepy carolers.
Despite their coronary-inducing appearance, I would be so bummed if they ever decided to not show up.
I always LOVE love it when execution exceeds intention!
hahahaha We always bemoan how much they startle us every year … but we also adore them. They appear to be falling apart. And last year there were three of them. Now there are only two. So I’m not sure what’s up with that.
Silent Night… Deadly Night… natch.
sheila – We had the exact same thing just around the corner of our street; but as you said, it was THREE little men. It scared the heck out of us and we are proven right. One of those guys is a serial killer — but witch one?
