Wow – I would have thought that with all my Marilyn books lying around, I would have seen this photo but I never have. Marilyn’s smile really strikes me there. It’s not the “Oh, there is a camera, let me turn on my Marilyn smile” smile – it seems like a real smile. It’s radiant.

Radiant, indeed! That photo was taken as she was getting ready to play in a short sketch in Jack Benny’s TV show, and there are many more of those pics, as you can imagine… she looks radiant in all of them. I have also seen screen captures of her guest role in the show and a few video fragments, and she seems to be completely at ease and happy to just be there.
And the dress… she rocked it! She also wore it for the premiere of “How to Marry A Millionaire” later that year (1953); she was there with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall… beautiful pictures of that event!
Okay, I’ll stop now. I get carried away! :)
I’m struck by the absolute teeniness of her torso and waist.
And Ceci – I knew that you would come in to save the day!!! :)
Good God. She looks like an Angel. Like there’s almost a halo around her somehow. Wow, Sheila.
I love how her nose turns up a bit at the tip. It’s not like a refined or patrician type of nose. It’s kinda girlie.
