AFI’s 100 American Movie Poster Classics.
How fun it is to scroll thru there. Nice to see Alien on the list. I think that’s one of the best and most chilling movie posters ever. But there are many I have never seen. Many, of course, are famous images – you’ll recognize them. The Lawrence of Arabia one, for example. I think that everyone will recognize that one. E.T. as well. Famous image. But check out the poster for Chaplin’s City Lights – never seen that one before – beautiful!
Here, however, is one of my favorites. It’s not on the list – but I love love love it.
I also, frankly, would have put this one on my list as well.
(I think it’s obvious I am partial to those images because they are kinda old school. They call to mind images like this one. Or this one.)

Agreed on Raiders. I would have thrown the classic Empire Strikes Back “kiss” poster in there as well. Finally, that this wasn’t included is a complete travesty. One of the coolest ever.
Super Fly!!
I think This Shaun of the Dead poster is great.
Never been a dude like this! He’s got a plan to stick it to the MAN!
I love that poster. I have the 25th anniversary remastered Superfly soundtrack from Rhino (2 discs, highly recommended) and it has a reproduction in the liner notes, along with lots of other cool stuff, and a brass-section mix of the opening song, “Pusherman,” that rules hard. (In fact, I’m going to have to put it on right now. Half a minute…)
…ok, thanks. Agreed on Raiders, too. That’s got to be in there. And I’m a little surprised at #53 – using the little-seen third poster for Star Wars instead of the far more known versions here or here. Not that it’s bad – it’s much closer to the actors’ appearances in fact. Just unusual. (PS, I liked the Style “E” 22×40 as well.)
Nightfly – I love that second Star Wars poster you linked to in particular.
It just gives me goosebumps.
