I think you mean Fellowship of the Rings, but I always thought Gandalf was saying, “Folly, you fools.”
Here I was thinking it was “Wizard of Oz”.
Yep. It’s from Fellowship. And he says, “Fly” – definitely.
You are, of course, correct, Marisa. Somehow, I had it in my head that he said something about it all being “Folly” at some point in the book. So, I just looked up the Balrog scene in the book, and it is “Fly.” I always had some doubt, which is why I recognized the quote.
I love that you go to your book to check the Balrog scene. That is just beautiful to me.
