Truman’s Transformation

Before and after.

It always makes me sad to see that transformation. I mean, we all get old. Gravity gets us all. But there was more going on there with him. The devastation of writer’s block, of ruining his life by alienating all of his friends … it’s brutal.

    He was a semi-regular guest on Johnny Carson in the late 60s, and he told the most spell-binding gothic maybe true, maybe not, New York stories (one had a huge dog chasing a ball accidentally thrown out the 50th floor window of an apartment).

    Reading the headline (didn’t read the body until after I clicked on the link), I thought this was a presidency post.

    Take a look at a candid picture of a president as a candidate and a similar candid picture in his last year… The job is a killer.
