I had to look this one up because it reads almost exactly like a line from Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory: “So shines a good deed in a weary world.” Heresy, I know, but I prefer the Wonka version to Shakespeare’s.

Go ahead, savage me. I can take it.

Dude, I will not savage you. Weirdly, I knew the Willy Wonka line before the Shakespeare line. When I first read Merchant of Venice, I thought: “Willy Wonka said this!!”

I prefer “naughty” to “weary” though. It has a darker more uneasy connotation.

    Long live Willy Wonka

Viva the book – but muerto el movie.

Can’t wait until the “Dahl”-ized remake comes out.

Gene Wilder will forever be Willy Wonka in my memory. A genius performance.
